Who is behind OverUnderWeather
By OverUnderWeather Research Desk
OverUnderWeather is run as an institutional research and software platform, not a personal brand. Authority here comes from transparent roles, published methodology and a public corrections log — not from personalities.
Data & Software Engineering
The engineering function builds and maintains the automated pipelines behind every page: venue coordinate geometry and stadium orientation data, forecast provider integrations, and the historical game–weather matching engine that pairs archived conditions with game outcomes at each venue's own coordinates.
This work is presented as a team function rather than a named individual. The platform is built to outlast any one person: every pipeline is reproducible, every data source is named on the study that used it, and every published number can be traced back to a script run.
Independent methodology reviewer

Kerry G. KauffmanB.S. in Statistics, Lehigh University
Reviewed the shared research methodology — sampling rules, significance thresholds and testing framework — and worked through the full numbers in two example studies (NFL wind totals and MLB indoor vs outdoor). The remaining studies were reviewed for methodological consistency, not line-by-line. LinkedIn profile.
“After examining the complete methodology and structure of the study, I am in agreement that the Welch’s t-test is the appropriate method when comparing two means.”— Kerry G. Kauffman, 2026-09-26
Studies he personally worked through in full:
- NFL Wind and Totals: How Much Wind Actually Cuts Scoring
- MLB Retractable Roofs: Open vs Closed Makes No Measurable Difference
- PGA Tour Wind Wave Study (reviewed 2026-10-21)
His review covers the shared research framework and the studies listed above. Pages without his reviewer badge were not individually audited by him. Full details: independent review section of the editorial policy.
OverUnderWeather Research Desk
The Research Desk is the publishing unit. It conducts independent data analysis on public sports and weather records, matches historical game outcomes to archived game-window weather, and publishes under a fixed set of standards:
- Minimum 40 observations per comparison group, or the finding is labelled directional only.
- Welch's t-test with exact t statistics, degrees of freedom and p values reported.
- Betting-edge studies graded walk-forward against real closing lines, one bet per game.
- Null results published alongside positives.
- Every post-publication fix recorded in the dated public corrections log.
The full standards live on the editorial policy page, and every correction is on the corrections log.
